World leaders offer their condolences to Trump and condemn the attack
These are the statements of some of the world leaders who have reacted on social networks after Saturday’s attack against Donald Trump:
Keir Starmer, British Prime Minister: “I am appalled by the shocking scenes at President Trump’s rally and we wish him and his family the best. “Political violence in any form has no place in our society and my thoughts are with all the victims of this attack.”
Justin Trudeau, Prime Minister of Canada: “I am heartbroken by the shooting of former President Trump. It cannot be overstated: Political violence is never acceptable. “My thoughts are with former President Trump, those at the event, and all Americans.”
Emmanuel Macron, President of France: “My condolences are with President Donald Trump, the victim of the assassination attempt. I send you my best wishes for a speedy recovery. A spectator was killed, several were injured. This is a tragedy for our democracies. “France shares the shock and outrage of the American people.”
Ursula von der Leyen, President of the European Commission: He said, “I am deeply shocked by the shooting during former President Trump’s campaign rally. I wish Donald Trump a speedy recovery and offer my condolences to the family of the innocent victim. “Political violence has no place in democracy.”
Olaf Scholz, German Chancellor: “The attack on US presidential candidate Donald Trump is disgusting. I wish you a speedy recovery. My condolences are also with those affected by the attack.” “These acts of violence are a threat to democracy.”
Jens Stoltenberg, NATO Secretary General: “I am shocked by the attempted assassination of former President Trump. I wish him a speedy recovery and my condolences are with those affected. I condemn this attack. Political violence has no place in our democracies. “NATO allies united to defend our freedoms and our values.”
Volodymyr Zelensky, President of Ukraine: “I am shocked to learn about the shooting of former US President Donald Trump at his rally in Pennsylvania. This type of violence has no justification or place anywhere in the world. Violence should never happen. I am relieved to know that Trump is now safe and I wish him a speedy recovery. My condolences to the families of the deceased victims of this attack, the rally attendees. I wish strength to all those horrified by this incident. I want the United States to come out of this stronger.”
Narendra Modi, Prime Minister of India:
