Donald Trump selects Susie Wills as future chief of staff

Washington (EFE).- Republican Donald Trump, winner of the elections in the United States, announced this Thursday that Susie Wills, the shadow director of his campaign, will be his chief of staff at the White House for his second term, which will begin on January 20, Will start in 2025.

Wills will be the first female Chief of Staff, one of the most important positions in the US administration, responsible for coordinating members of the presidential Cabinet.

This is the first appointment Trump has announced after defeating Kamala Harris in last Tuesday’s election.

“Strong, Intelligent, Innovative”

“Susie Wills helped me achieve one of the greatest political victories in American history, and she was an integral part of my successful 2016 and 2020 campaigns,” Trump said.

The mogul described Wills as a “strong, intelligent, innovative and universally admired and respected” woman.

“It is an incredible honor to appoint Susie as the first female Chief of Staff in American history. I have no doubt that he will make our country proud,” he declared.

Donald Trump thanks Susie Wills

On Tuesday, when Trump gave his first election victory speech, the future president publicly thanked Wills for her work during the event.

According to CNN, Wills is credited with making this latest Republican campaign, his third after 2016 and 2020, the most “sophisticated and disciplined”.

A veteran of Florida politics, she ran the Trump campaign in that state in 2016 and helped Ron DeSantis win the Florida gubernatorial election in 2018.

According to Politico, Wills has been his de facto chief of staff for more than three years and had great influence in ensuring that the Republican nominee for president in these last elections was Trump, not DeSantis.

Wills, the daughter of famed NFL player Pat Summerall, is “accustomed to adversity,” according to NBC News.
In the early nineties he told his alcoholic father that he was embarrassed by his public behavior and the athlete admitted that the letter he sent him was decisive in giving up alcohol.

Wills was private secretary to Labor Secretary Raymond Donovan when he was being investigated for his alleged ties to the Mafia. The latter resigned after the special prosecutor declined to charge him.
