Adeyemi scored a first-half hat-trick as Dortmund beat Celtic 7-1 at home.
Robert Lewandowski opened the scoring in the eighth minute and converted a second-half penalty as Barca beat visiting Young Boys of Switzerland 5-0. New captain Rafinha and defender Iñigo Martinez also scored in the first half, with the fifth goal an own goal from Mohamed Camara.
Ilkay Gundogan, who played for the Catalans last season, scored the first goal in City’s 4-0 win at the home of Slovakian club Slovan Bratislava. Erling Haaland scored his 42nd goal in his 41st Champions League game.
City had just drawn 0-0 with Inter Milan on the opening day, while Barca lost 2-1 to Monaco – the first defeat suffered by their new coach Hansi Flick.
Mikel Arteta’s Arsenal beat Luis Enrique’s Paris Saint-Germain 2-0 in London. Kai Havertz and Bukayo Saka scored first-half goals for the Gunners.
Arteta was a PSG player on loan from Barcelona for 18 months.
