convinced him not to retire, according to a new episode of “The Draymond Green Show.”

In an excerpt from the Volume Sports podcast shared ESPN, Green said Monday morning, after punching Phoenix Suns center Jusuf Nurkic in the face on Dec. 12, that he remains in contact with Silver and that that includes conversations about his immediate desire to retire from the NBA.

“I told him, ‘Adam, this is too much for me. It’s too much. This is all getting too much for me and I’m going to quit,” Green said. “And Adam said, ‘You’re making a very rash decision, and I won’t let you do it.’

“We had a long and great conversation, very useful for me. I’m thrilled to be playing in a league with a commissioner like Adam who cares more about helping you than hurting you; help you more than punish you. players”.

Green is set to return from a 14-game suspension. The incident involving Nurkic was the second act of violence leading to a league suspension in a month. Green was suspended five games for grabbing Minnesota Timberwolves’ Rudy Gobert on Nov. 14 and dragging him across the court while choking him.

After undergoing a month of counseling, Green was reinstated to the NBA on Saturday and began working out with the Warriors on Sunday for a return that sources said is expected in about a week. These consultations are expected to continue after he starts playing again.

Green will return to a struggling Warriors team that is 17-19 and in 11th place in the Western Conference.

He averaged 9.7 points, 5.5 rebounds and 5.8 assists in 15 games this season. In the first season of a four-year, $100 million contract, he loses 153,941 tickets for every game in which he is suspended.​
