Helados Estiu, one of the main suppliers of ice cream to Mercadona supermarkets, has managed to restore profitability and significantly increased sales last year. The Valencian company, controlled by the Felix family and Importaco, achieved a turnover of 138 million euros in 2023, an increase of 30%.
The Valencian company recorded a net profit of 6.7 million eurosWhat means an increase of 63.4% compared to the previous yearwhere high costs weighed on its results. The strong growth was not only due to prices, as the company explains, last year reached 44 million liters of ice cream sold
compared to 37 million liters in 2022.
Ice cream company plans investments of more than 26 million euros over the next three yearswhich, as he explains, will focus on improvement and expansion, innovation and digitalization. The Valencian company thus maintains its commitment to growth, having allocated 34 million euros in investments over the last five years.
51% more employment
These investments have also been noticeable in job creation. The average labor force size in 2023 was 473 people.and in 2022 it reached 312 jobs, which means an increase of 161 people, or 51% more. In the middle of last year’s campaign, it covered 604 employees.
Helados Estiu, on the other hand, in its commitment to sustainable development. managed to reduce water consumption in the production of each ice cream by 19%. At its plant in Cheste and Ribarroja del Turia, the company has installed 8,273 square metres of photovoltaic panels.
The Valencian company not only supplies Mercadona, but also sells its ice cream in 27 countries.
New products
For this 2024 campaign, the company follows in the footsteps of Dochi Cheescake and launches Dochi Banoffee, whose main characters are banana and biscuit. Both are sold exclusively at Mercadona. They are the result of a collaboration between the R&D and Innovation departments of Helados Estiu and Mercadona.
Added to this release is Mango Blanco Bombón, a delicious combination of creamy coconut ice cream with mango and passion fruit sauce, topped with white chocolate chips and coconut zest.
