FBI recognizes flood of threats against members of Trump’s team usa elections

Spokespeople for President-elect Donald Trump and US officials have detected an increase in bomb threats and false alarms against some of the people the Republican chose to be part of his team. “The FBI is aware of numerous bomb threats and incidents swatting (False alarm to trigger emergency response) The incoming administration’s nominees and appointees have been directed to do so, and we are working with our law enforcement partners, the Federal Bureau of Investigation (FBI) said in a statement this Wednesday.

Without specifying who was the target of those threats, the FBI said, “We take all potential threats seriously and, as always, encourage citizens to immediately report anything suspicious to law enforcement. “

The threats come after an election campaign that was partly marred by violence. In July, a shooter opened fire at a Trump rally in Butler, Pennsylvania, hitting the then-candidate in the ear and killing one of his supporters. The U.S. Secret Service later foiled an assassination attempt at Trump’s golf course in West Palm Beach, Florida, after an agent noticed the barrel of a gun sticking out of the perimeter fence while Trump was playing golf.

However, no incidents of violence related to the election results or vote counting have been reported following the elections. Democratic candidate, Kamala Harris accepted her defeat and both she and the President of the United States, Joe Biden, congratulated Trump without hesitation. Biden is trying to make a model transition of power, although he is also trying to take advantage of the last months of his mandate to consolidate some of his policies.

Trump’s transition team also said this Wednesday that these incidents had occurred. “Last night and this morning, several of President Trump’s Cabinet nominees and members of his administration were the targets of violent and anti-American threats against their lives and the lives of those they serve,” said Carolyn Levitt, a spokeswoman for the president-elect. said in a statement. “In response, law enforcement and other officials took prompt action to ensure the safety of those targeted,” he said, thanking the security services.

The target of these threats is also New York Congresswoman Elise Stefanik, whom Trump has chosen as America’s next Ambassador to the United Nations. In a statement released Wednesday, the Congresswoman’s office said Stefanik, her husband and son were traveling from Washington to Saratoga County for Thanksgiving, “when they received information about a bomb threat to their residence in said county.”

“New York State, county law enforcement and the United States Capitol Police responded immediately with the highest level of professionalism. “We are incredibly grateful for the extraordinary dedication of law enforcement officers who keep our communities safe 24 hours a day, seven days a week,” the statement said. “We want to extend our best wishes to New York’s suburban community for a happy and safe Thanksgiving. He added, “We are especially grateful to the families of our law enforcement officers and military members who are on duty during the holidays.”

Meanwhile, in Florida, the Okaloosa County Sheriff’s Office said in a notice posted on Facebook that it received “a report of a bomb threat at approximately 9 AM this morning, referring to the alleged mailbox of former Congressman Matt Gaetz at a home in the Niceville area. Found.” The Associated Press. Although a family member lives at the address, he said, “Former Congressman Gaetz is not a resident.” However, the mailbox was searched and no device was found. The immediate area was also searched with negative results. Gaetz was Trump’s initial choice to serve as attorney general, but he withdrew from consideration amid allegations that he paid women for sex and slept with underage women.
