To lead a healthy lifestyle, it is important to watch your diet. We are what we eat, there is no doubt about that. Therefore, we must know what foods we include in our diet and which ones are most beneficial for us. The key is variety and consistency. This should become a habit. According to the Spanish Heart Foundation (FEC), the basis of our weekly diet should be fruits and vegetables, five servings of each per day. Next, let’s prioritize whole grains and dairy. Animal and vegetable protein should be consumed 3-4 times a week. It is recommended to blush only once.

However, more and more people are choosing vegetarian and vegan diets. They generally have a harder time finding plant sources of protein. A very common and healthy alternative is tofu. But this time it’s time to talk about fenugreek

.

This plant with medicinal properties, although native to the Mediterranean, is commonly used in China. These benefits come from its seeds, which are usually eaten or made into powder to make an infusion. In addition to being high in protein, it is credited with benefits for the skin and stomach. Here are some of its properties:

  1. Avoid glucose spikes

Fenugreek helps prevent spikes in blood sugar levels as the fiber contained in this food controls blood glucose levels as it tends to absorb sugar circulating in the body.

Healthline reports that one tablespoon of fenugreek contains about three grams of this nutrient, which is part of the cell membranes and tissues needed for proper muscle contraction and promoting musculoskeletal health.

Fenugreek has tremendous antioxidant power, which is very beneficial for the skin. This helps protect it from boils, abscesses and swelling of all kinds.

Taking it in bad form can cause diarrhea and flatulence, and in large doses – hypoglycemia. It may also cause allergic reactions. If you are taking other medications, it is important to consult a specialist to ensure that it does not interfere with them, as fenugreek may reduce the absorption of other medications.

Please remember that this is general information and under no circumstances does it replace the advice of a professional.
