Five sunscreen products to protect your skin from the sun this summer

The sun, chlorine from the pool, sea salt or heat are some of the factors that the skin is exposed to in the summer. To avoid long-term consequences, it is important to learn how to take care of it, not only by using sun protection, but also by caring for it and pampering it from the inside.

Eating a nutritious diet rich in antioxidants and vitamins can help protect your skin and reduce the risk of sunburn. For this, we can find a good source of vitamins in beta-carotene, a nutrient that enhances the skin’s defense against UV radiation and is converted into vitamin A when the body needs it, and also has an antioxidant effect.

This precursor to vitamin A is present in some summer fruits and vegetables, which can be very refreshing at this time of year.

Carrots are the main beta-carotene food and can be eaten raw or cooked. This vegetable, which is consumed by half of Spaniards, promotes the skin’s response to solar aggression by increasing the production of melanin, a pigment that protects against the sun and darkens the skin’s color.

Melon is the third most consumed fruit by the Spanish population (38%), which, in addition to being rich in water, contains large amounts of vitamin C and beta-carotene, nutrients with high UV protection and other benefits such as a significant improvement in skin color and radiance, as well as a reduction in the risk of redness after sun exposure.

Watermelon is a typical summer fruit, it not only contains a large amount of antioxidants, but also lycopene and beta-carotene, good allies that help to maintain your tan after sun exposure, and also provide sufficient hydration.

Red fruits have a composition rich in vitamin C, which is consumed by 6 out of 10 Spaniards, they provide the body with substances that protect against ultraviolet radiation; In addition, its antioxidant action also protects the skin from premature aging and helps improve its elasticity.

Finally, tomatoes, the fourth most popular vegetable in our country (37%), are rich in lycopene, a carotenoid with important antioxidant properties that helps strengthen the skin against inflammation and redness caused by the sun. This effect is enhanced in cooked tomatoes.
