Buenos Aires, February 19 (EFE).- Emmanuel Macron’s government has summoned the Russian ambassador to Paris following the death of Russian rival Alexei Anatolyevich Navalny, French Foreign Minister Stéphane Séjourn said on Monday.
“I requested to call the Russian ambassador at 6:30 this evening, where he is on an official visit,” the French minister told a news conference in Buenos Aires.
Appearing before the press alongside Argentine Foreign Minister Diana Mondino, Séjourn reiterated “permanent support for Ukraine” from both France and Argentina, which he described as a “necessity”.
“This is a necessity for Europe, but really it is a necessity for the whole world. “Russia has continued its attacks in recent days with the assassination of a rival,” the French minister said.
For his part, Mondino said the “difference in codes and values” with Russia is astonishing, “and here they have clearly broken down.”
Last Friday, after signing a bilateral security agreement with Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky, Emmanuel Macron issued a warning about the growing international threat of Russia, ruled by Vladimir Putin, accusing it of showing a “willingness for aggression” toward Europe and Accused of “having”. “Become an organized actor in global instability.”
At a press conference, the French president blamed the death in prison of chief Russian rival Navalny as a sign of the Kremlin’s “weakness” ahead of upcoming Russian presidential elections.
