Gaza death toll rises to more than 35,000 after Israeli troops withdraw from north of the Strip

The death toll in the Gaza Strip since the start of the war exceeded 35,000 this Sunday, according to Gaza Health Ministry data. Over the past 24 hours, 63 people have died in the devastated Palestinian territory, bringing the total death toll since October to 35,034. At least 114 were injured, bringing the total number of injured since the start of the invasion to 78,755.

The figures come as Israeli forces expand their attacks into Rafah, at the southernmost end of the Strip, where an estimated 300,000 people are estimated to have fled due to the threat of constant bombardment. The army has also returned to the north of the area, where twelve bodies have arrived at Kamal Adwan hospital in the city of Beit Lahiya, according to Palestinian media Wafa.

Most Israeli troops left the northern part of the Palestinian territory a month ago and were operating only in the corridor linking northern and southern Gaza, but have returned in recent days. Particularly in the Jabaliya refugee camp, where they say the Islamist group is regrouping.

The camp was one of the first entered by the army in October, and air strikes since then have killed hundreds and destroyed much of its infrastructure.

Meanwhile, Israel is continuing its attacks in Rafah, at the southernmost tip of the strip, where it has ordered the evacuation of thousands of people from various neighborhoods while carrying out a “precision operation against Hamas,” according to chief army spokesman Daniel Hagari. . ,

Some 300,000 people are estimated to have left the area in recent days, where more than a million Palestinians took refuge after the war began. Additionally, thousands of bodies are still found under the debris, with local authorities unable to reach them.

According to public UN data, only six trucks with humanitarian aid have entered the Gaza Strip since May 5, when Israel closed the Kerem Shalom crossing – which has now reopened – following a Hamas rocket attack. It is given, in which four soldiers were killed. The Israeli military claimed this Saturday that it had allowed the entry of approximately 200,000 liters of fuel through the Kerem Shalom crossing and helped coordinate the opening of a field hospital in central Gaza.
