Gears of War: E-Day Horde Mode Will Most Likely Return

Perhaps the most important and anticipated announcement during the event happened at-xbox-games-showcase-2024-1399403/” title=”Everything That Happened at the Xbox Games Showcase 2024″ target=”_blank”>Xbox Games Showcase last Sunday There was And of course, Gears of War: E-Day, where we would experience the beginning of all hell that would break loose in Sera.

The Coalition has already stated that they want to offer more terror this time so that we can relive the horror of our first encounter with the fearsome Locust.

In an interesting interview with Windows Central, studio creative director Matt Searcy and brand director Nicole Fawcett explain in more detail why they chose this direction, and also very clearly hint that we can expect multiplayer in both Horde mode and Horde mode. traditional. Fawcett explains:

“You can see that we wanted to position the Locust drone as truly scary and intimidating creatures. People remember Gears of War 1 for those moments of horror and fear. We’re going back to that darker, grittier environment that people have in their heads. when they think in terms of franchising.”

He goes on to say that the horror doesn’t mean they’re abandoning the show’s often quite heavy tragedies, as well as the funnier elements, and says they worked hard to get the tone right:

“It’s in our DNA. The great thing about Gears is that it can do both. He can tell dark and terrible stories about human suffering, but also give hope and what it’s like to have a squadron behind you. moments where you rip off a Locust’s head with a chainsaw and feel damn good.”

While people love Gears of War’s campaigns, the multiplayer mode is also very popular, especially the Horde mode, which helped start the trend of fighting against waves of enemies. Luckily, Searcy has some good news on that front and all but confirms that he’s coming back:

“I would say this is the next main Gears game. Gears has a pretty clear DNA in terms of gameplay, so you can probably see where we’re going with E-Day.”

But that doesn’t mean there isn’t enough news. As you already know, the difference between this prequel and the first Gears of War is 14 years, and apparently this will be noticed. Searcy explains:

“E-Day is not a broken world. This is a wonderful world in which people live in peacetime. We’re seeing the Locust presented through the eyes of people who have never seen them before and don’t know what’s going on.” We’re also going to change the gameplay. We’ve been working on the franchise for ten years now, so we have a history of overhauling enemy types, as well as adding new weapons and maybe even new enemies.”

The interview contains other details (like why Lancer has a chainsaw and why The Coalition decided to make E-Day instead of Gears 6) and, as we said, it’s worth a read. Are you satisfied with this?
