Google Maps continues to evolve and has just added two features that promise to make life easier for users. These improvements are available on Android devices and are designed specifically for electric vehicles and detailed road identification. We’ll tell you what these new features are and how they can benefit you in your daily life.
– Nearest charging stations for electric vehicles:
One of the most notable new features is the inclusion of a filter that allows you to find nearby electric charging stations. This feature is activated from the app’s main search bar, located at the top of the screen. However, to use it, you need to configure the car as electric in the app. This setup is done through the “Your Vehicle” option in the Google Maps settings menu.
This improvement isn’t entirely surprising since Google announced in April that it would roll out various AI-powered updates to make EV charging points easier to access. With this feature, users can better plan their routes and ensure there is always a charging station available along the way.
– Full display of road lengths:
The second feature added allows you to view the entire length of the road when performing a search. Unlike before, when only a pin would appear in the middle of the road, Google Maps now shows the start and end of the road, as well as the entire space it occupies on the map. This improvement makes it easier to plan routes and understand road layouts, which is especially useful for those who need to know the exact route of a road.
These two new features complement other recent improvements Google has made. Notable among them is the appearance of a green arrow indicating the location of the entry and exit doors of the destination after zooming in on it. Available in the beta version of the app 11.17.0101, this feature is designed to save users time by avoiding unnecessary workarounds.
Additionally, clicking on one of the green arrows displays a preview of the post along with additional images and related information. While the feature is still in beta and only available on select devices like the Google Pixel 7a, it is expected to roll out to all Android users soon.
