Government allocates €300 million for digital advice to SMEs

This month is May Government is going to launch a budget assistance program in 300 million euros promote the digitalization of SMEs in order to modernize Spain’s production structure.

The goal of the program is will benefit at least 15,000 companies from 10 to 250 workers, who can receive financial assistance of up to 24,000 euros, depending on their size.

This initiative, called “Consultation kit” is managed by the Red.es division and will provide companies with a bonus for digital consultations to encourage SMEs to hire one or more advisory servicesin areas such as artificial intelligence, data analytics and cybersecurity.

Secretary of State for Digitalization and Artificial Intelligence, Maite Ledo, emphasized the importance of supporting SMEs in the adoption of new technologies, especially in the field of artificial intelligence, in order to improve the productivity of Spanish businesses. “At the end of the day, it’s about increase the productivity of Spanish businesses and if we don’t reach small businesses, it will be very difficult to achieve the impact that we all expect from artificial intelligence,” the secretary of state added.

Starting in mid-May, interested digital consultants will be able to join the program, and from mid-June SMEs will be able to apply for assistance. The deadline to request assistance will remain open until the end of 2025.

SMEs can receive assistance of up to 12,000 euros if they have from 10 to 50 workers, up to 18,000 euros if they have from 50 to 100 workers and up to 24,000 euros

if they have between 100 and 250 workers. Each of the ten available consulting services is valued at 6,000 euros.

Advisory services will be provided by digital consultants assigned to the program, which funded by the European Union through NexGenerationEU Recovery Funds.

When SMEs contract for this service, they delegate the right to receive the assistance amount to the digital consultant, who will be the one to receive the assistance payment once they have properly justified the provision of the advisory service.

The program, formulated in the Recovery, Transformation and Resilience Plan, the Digital Spain 2025 Agenda and the SME Digitalization Plan, aims to increase the level of digitalization of the production structure so that increase the scale of companies and their productivity, promote internationalization and create quality jobs
