It seems James Gunn may be reuniting with yet another Guardians of the Galaxy star! Zoe Saldaña recently revealed that she wants to play a superhero in the upcoming DC Universe reboot.
Zoe Saldaña has been at the top of nerd culture for years, playing a leading role in Guardians of the Galaxy films, as well Avatar franchise. Many assumed that Gamora’s final moments in the MCU would be the end of her time in the superhero world. However, it looks like Saldaña is more than ready to don the spandex again, showing her desire to join James Gunn’s new DC Universe.
“Yes, I know, I do. “I love any superhero universe,” Saldana told Comicbook.com. “I have sons who are obsessed with comic books and superheroes right now, so for me to be a part of projects that they will be watching for the next 10 to 15 years of their lives is a dream come true for me.”
“If it never happens, or if it happens to other directors other than James Gunn, or if it happens again to James Gunn, I would be very grateful.”
Zoe Saldaña is far from the only one Guardians of the Galaxy star who wants to follow James Gunn from the MCU. Dave Bautisa, Chris Pratt and Pom Klementieff have expressed interest in joining the DC Universe in some form. Let’s hope Gunn reunites the internet’s favorite group of misfits in his upcoming reboot!
James Gunn and Peter Safran told reporters that their vision for the DC Universe includes closed scripts, room for maneuver and a single storyline for projects in film, television, animation and video games. They explained that the DC Universe may bring back elements from previous DC modes, meaning their eight-year plan is not a complete reboot.
Shazam! Fury of the Gods, Flash, blue beetleAnd Aquaman and the Lost Kingdom all were released after the announcement of the new DC Universe, and all four projects are struggling at the box office. Will characters from these films appear in the new DCU? Only Gunn and Safran know.
