AUGSBURG, Germany (AP) — Harry Kane scored his 23rd Bundesliga goal as Bayern Munich beat local rivals Augsburg 3-2 on Saturday in a game in which Kingsley Coman was injured.
Kane had to wait to watch video of the game to confirm Bayern’s third goal. He was offside when Jamal Musiala played the play, but a replay showed it was Augsburg’s Kristijan Jakic. Kane has gone two games without a goal, his longest streak since joining Bayern this summer.
19-year-old midfielder Aleksandar Pavlovic opened the scoring with his first Bundesliga goal from a corner kick. Alphonso Davies struck low to make it 2-0, his first goal in 10 months, also against Augsburg. Ermedine Demirovic’s header gave Augsburg hope of a comeback before Kane scored.
Bayern had two penalties, one evaded by goalkeeper Manuel Neuer and the other converted by Demirovic.
Coman was injured after Pavlovic opened the scoring. Bayern coach Thomas Tuchel has already had to deal with several injuries and the absence of key players.
Eric Dier, on loan from Bayern, made his first start since joining from Tottenham alongside Matthijs de Ligt in defence. Raphael Guerreiro, who usually plays at left-back, was forced to play on the right, while Pavlovic made his fourth start in midfield.
Bayern remains second. Leader Bayer Leverkusen will later host Borussia Monchengladbach.
Deniz Undava’s treble for Stuttgart gave his side a 5-2 lead in the race for Champions League qualification. Leipzig has three defeats in the Bundesliga in 2024.
Stuttgart remains third and is closing in on confirming its Champions League spot. The team showed that they can score without their goalscorer Serou Guirasi, who plays in the African Cup of Nations with Guinea.
Benyamin Sheshko and Lois Openda scored for Leipzig, but the young strikers were unable to compensate for poor defensive performances, especially after Undave’s third goal when Leipzig appeared unprepared for Stuttgart’s quick free-kick.
