Sony Interactive Entertainment has released a statement on the official Steam page for the popular online shooter game Helldivers 2, saying that starting June 4 next year, all users will need to link their PlayStation Network account to their Steam account if they want to continue enjoying the game . The game was developed by Arrowhead Studios in collaboration with Sony Entertainment, so it is technically a PlayStation in-house title, although it is available on PC.
As the note explains, “We have allowed the Steam and PlayStation Network link requirements to be temporary due to issues during the launch of Helldivers 2. This grace period has ended.”
A notification that we need to link a PlayStation Network account will begin to appear in the game from May 6 to May 30. Starting June 4, users who do not have a PlayStation Network account will not be able to play the game.
Creating a PlayStation Network account is free. However, it is true that PlayStation Network accounts have regional restrictions, which may affect the experience for some users, aside from, of course, the requirement to comply with Sony’s terms and conditions.
As a result of this decision, many users left negative reviews of the game on its Steam page.
