WhatsApp text formats

This image shows all WhatsApp text formats and in green you have new ones

. On the left is the text type of each, and on the right is how the format is used. As you can see, it’s about adding characters to your message.

The first two are new two list formats, one to create a dotted list and the other to create a numbered list. To use them, you must add a hyphen or number followed by a period at the beginning of each message.

Then you can add verbatim quote, which can be done by adding a larger character at the beginning of the text. In addition, you can create code field Encapsulating this piece of code in quotes so that its characters do not affect the text.

With these additions, the text formats available in WhatsApp look like this:

  • Write a list with points: You need to put the word or phrase you want to add to the list by putting a hyphen (-) at the beginning: – example.
  • Write a numbered list: You need to enter the desired word or phrase with a number and a period at the beginning: 1. example.
  • Text quote: You need to put the word or phrase you want to put in the list by putting a greater than sign ( > ) at the beginning: > example
  • Code: You need to put the word or phrase you want to put in the code format in quotes (`): `example
  • Write in bold on WhatsApp: You need to put the word or phrase you want in bold between the stars.
  • : *example*.Write in cursive using WhatsApp
  • : You need to place the word or phrase you want to italicize between underscores (_): _example_.Write with strikethrough on WhatsApp
