Huawei has started releasing a new global update for Watch GT 5, firmware version 5.0.0.125. The changelog includes optimizations to some map features, additional support for other languages, and minor improvements to the notification center. While this update is similar to the recent version for the Watch GT 5 Pro, it is missing one feature.
The Huawei Watch GT 5 smartwatch is being updated with new firmware, which is being distributed worldwide. The wearable device was released alongside the Watch GT 5 Pro in September and has features aimed at runners and cyclists.
This update is almost identical to the one currently rolling out to the Huawei Watch GT 5 Pro. The changelog indicates that Brazilian Portuguese is now supported as a voice language for training. Optimized offline map functionality and system stability. Additionally, the Action Center is said to have new and improved descriptions of each option, which you can see by tapping the info icon. However, firmware version 5.0.0.125 for the Watch GT 5 lacks one feature compared to the Watch GT 5 Pro: golf touch protection to prevent errant shots.
The update for the smartwatch appears to be rolling out in stages and can be downloaded via the Huawei Health app. It is unclear how long it will take for the update to roll out to all Huawei Watch GT 5 smartwatches (currently €249.99 on Amazon).
