“I thought Mostoles wouldn’t get the job”

CD Móstoles President Alfredo González Montaño speaks to AS about the awarding of the vacant place in Group V of the Second RFEF. who left Ursaria and finally joined a team from the city in the south of Madrid. Other clubs such as Badajoz, Toledo, Leganes B, Manchego or Jaen were relegated to the background.

How can I find out about the vacant position left by Ursaria?

“We found out through social media and the press. The federation never notifies us of a vacancy under any circumstances. Once we confirmed that this was true, we began all the steps to try to keep the position that was eventually given to us.”

You pay in two parts and other teams have complained about this…

“They never told us that the payment had to be made in one installment. CD Toledo claims that the payment has to be made on the last day, which is not true. The Federation gives a deadline of Thursday the 11th to show interest in the place, after which you have one more day to make the payment. We have already done this, nowhere does it say that it has to be made on the last day. We did it in two parts because of the banks, nothing more.”

Do you understand the complaints of other teams?

“In the end, we all defend our own, and we all have our own version. I don’t agree with other teams claiming their place until the end. The rule is that the place that remains free must be for one of the eliminated members of the group they competed in, or the group they are in third place in, as in our case. We finished second in the league, so we have the best ranking, that’s why we won the place.”

Leganes B, Badajoz or Manchego fought for this place…

“When we were relegated from the second RFEF to the third, a place was left vacant because DUX did not show up, so we were in contention for that place, but they gave it to Cerdanyola. We were very angry there, but now they have given it to us. “Leganés B, Manchego, Badajoz are in contention for it…”

Did you receive any benefits from the Federation?

“I would like Mostoles to be treated like Badajoz. They had a national team there recently. We asked the women’s team to come, but we don’t go into the swimming pools. To be honest, I thought they would give the place to them, so I was very surprised when I found out they gave it to us. I’ve been very proud of my team all season. “When we lost to Moscardo, I thought football owed us something, and in the end it came to us.”

How do I know if a space has been allocated?

“The Madrid Federation calls me. They were the first to receive news from the Federation. They sent me an email saying that we were moving up to the second tier. I couldn’t believe it. It was a great joy because we wanted this place to be for our players and fans.”

How do you see the future of Mostoles?

“I can tell you that at the Second RFEF we will be one of the teams with the smallest budget. But I don’t want that to be an excuse. Of course, we have to compete with all the teams, and football will allow us to achieve what we deserve. We invest in the stadium being in the best conditions for our players and fans, with the money we earn and the subsidies from the city council. I don’t want to get into the money issue, because I have never complained and I don’t intend to. With our resources, we try to do the best we can.”

Stadium, player, Mostoles in professional football…

“We are taking care of all the maintenance of the stadium, which was sad when it was handed over to us after the disappearance of the old Móstoles. We are repairing the changing rooms, the lighting, the pipes, the video board, the public address system… Little by little, we are trying to make the stadium look its best. I know that teams from nearby cities receive more subsidies, but that is no excuse. I hope that one day Móstoles will be in the place it deserves. I know it is difficult, but we will try to involve Móstoles in professional football. “I look at Villarreal as a role model.”

Is the quarry important?

“A lot, but not being in higher divisions and teams from neighboring cities is difficult. This year our youth team was one of the best in Madrid and 20 of the 22 players we had left. We will have to live with this and try to improve over the years through work.”
