For many it is a lifelong dream, for some it is just another job, and for the rest it is a nightmare. Working for Apple, or more specifically in one of its stores, is what current TikToker Tyler Morgan did, who not only uses the social network to discover iPhone tricks, but also dares describe iPhone, iPad and company clients. And he’s not exactly nice to them.
Morgan tends to be critical of Apple products, which is to his credit anyway. However, he tends to make generalizations about clients, sometimes being too biased towards them and not taking their circumstances into account. So much so that he doesn’t hesitate to call them idiots.
Morgan believes he knows the profile of iPhone buyers very well. know their psychology well and what makes them buy the latest generation iPhone. He doesn’t hesitate to call fools those users who decide to buy the latest generation iPhone simply because, he says, they’ve been told they’re better and they absolutely believe it.
Also criticizes that they don’t use Apple’s replacement program, the same one in which the company provides a discount on new iPhones in exchange for delivery of the old one. According to a former employee, many of them buy it without using the program and, in his opinion, it harms them.
However, Morgan ignores other issues that could push buyers to hold onto their old iPhone. On the one hand, perhaps that other smartphone will be gifted to a family member, a friend, or even sold on second-hand buying and selling portals at a better price than the one guaranteed by Apple.
The best words saved for those who buy the iPhone 13, a mobile phone that has been on the market for several years. According to Morgan, they are smarter, and while it is true that in terms of price and quality they are excellent devices and can still be recommended, this should not put anyone off buying a new iPhone. Because no, it’s not always a simple whim, and sometimes some more modern characteristics are needed.
Again leaning towards a generalization, Morgan argues that there are many iPad buyers and that they are all cut from the same cloth. He states that they are all looking for a computer and that you will never find it on an iPad. And yes, it’s true that this criticism is shared by many, given the advanced hardware of models like the iPad Pro M4 and the feeling that the operating system doesn’t live up to them.
However, it ignores many professional profiles that not only can use an iPad as their primary device, but also have no use on a MacBook. Imagine a student who’s used to taking notes by hand using an Apple Pencil, or a graphic designer looking for powerful creation and editing programs designed exclusively for iPad that are much more precise to use than on a non-touch laptop like a MacBook.
This is clearly seen when it comes to college students purchasing the larger iPad Pro along with the official keyboard and Apple Pencil. He talks about how the package will cost them about $500 more than the MacBook Air, although again, he doesn’t know what these students really think or whether they really need this combination to get the benefits that the Mac doesn’t. can provide them with.
Besides iPhones and iPads, the TikToker and former Apple Store employee also sometimes talked about Apple Watch Ultra Buyers. He doesn’t criticize the new features of this line of watches or how they improve their battery compared to others, although, again in general, he criticizes their buyers, saying that eventually “they will continue to charge them every night out of habit.” just like with others.
He also seems to be concerned about those customers who waste no time coming in with a clear purchase decision, paying and leaving. More precisely, from those who buy AirPods Max. Morgan seems shocked that someone could “buy some of the most expensive headphones on the market, pay and walk away as if nothing had happened.” Obviously, this is not something everyone can afford, but Morgan, again, tends to describe these purchases as impulsive and even absurd, without understanding the context.
Stupid customers may be everywhere, but not all of them are stupid.
And the conclusion we draw from all this is that, like any store, an Apple store will have a diverse and curious customer base. Yes, logically there will be impulsive and thoughtless purchases. There will be those who spend money they don’t need to have the latest. Certainly. However, not everything is black and white.
In our experience, not as Apple users, but as people who have spent time covering technology in general and Apple in particular, we’ve encountered a variety of experiences from other users. And prejudging someone based on what they buy isn’t always a good thing. In fact, most of the time we make mistakes. Therefore, despite the fact that these statements are made by a former employee, they are still no less a lie. And in any case, as the mantra among consumers goes: Let everyone spend their money on what they want.
