In Brittany, a castle on the sea has collected 21 film tours, from “Vikings” to “The Three Musketeers”.
“The castle has served as a backdrop for 21 films: after the Viking tour with Kirk Douglas and Janet Leigh in 1957 and with The Three Musketeers in 2021,” recalls Guenol Juon-de-Longré, son of the owners of the castle of La Roche-Goyon, commonly called Fort-la-Latt, in Plevenon. The exceptional site dominates the majority and cannot import what the historical film realizes. “Il ya eu de tout, du succès mondial au nanar,” Guenol says, even in major productions: “The film Chouans with Philippe Noiret and Sophie Marceau, tour in 1987; “Monsieur N” by Antoine de Caunes in 2002, the series “Pervier” in 2010… I also experienced fiascos, like this German horror film, Tournament at the castle in 2001.”
Another source of the castle’s modern history. “Before the Tournament, 70 years ago, during our encore of the film Vikings. “I am an anachronism of 500 years in the history of the Monument and the Castle that is still a history of the past, the generations remain on the Spectacular Castle,” says Guenollet, the escapee who mobilized 2,000 people at the Tournament. on the site. To (re)discover this cinematic epic, the exhibition “La Roche-Goyon Castle Made in Cinema” offers a rich documentary and illustrated retrospective, all of it, in the middle of the castle.
3 Kirk Douglas Helmet Replica
Accessories for various films and series for tours in the castle, accessories for tournaments, spears and curls in place, products… Everything is there! “It’s six months of research in our archives. On the meme fait faire – a replica of the helmet that commissioned Kirk Douglas for “Les Vikings”, en laiton et acier. On the other hand, a fake facial hair that makeup artists can use to restore hair color and artificial oils, details Guénole.
4 unpublished photos from the tour
The exhibition offers cinephiles the opportunity to discover photographs of unknown tournaments, concerning the recording of the second round of “The Three Musketeers, Milady”, with Eva Green and François Civil, among others. “This is the last excursion of the day before the capture of the castle. A week and a period of preparation are necessary for the preparation, two days of the tournament, in October, on the way to perfection. A chance! “
5 Turning to local souvenirs
The Golden Book is the public’s location, in the frame, calling for souvenirs from the tournaments, which are necessary to put the local figures on display. “Toutes les people who want to attract the témoignages of the tournaments, to enrich the history of the castle, which is lived in its environs and history, but which also includes the culture of the times”, invite the children of the castles, the people of the cinema in their hours. ” In the film “The Old Mistress”, 2006, the show cherchait a figure. I accepted and toured with Yolande Moreau and Claude Sarraute. I wanted a glass of wine to bring a bag. During the tour of the stage designs, pour 5 seconds on the screen! More than three nice souvenirs. “
