‘Into the Spider-Verse’ Cast on the Importance of Writers in the World – Deadline

After a double strike, Hollywood was ready to party at the Golden Globes, the first major awards ceremony after a long hiatus, as host Jo Koy reminded everyone from the stage.

Apart from the parties, there were also some reflections on the key role that writers play in every aspect of entertainment, including award shows. This happened thanks to Spider-Man: Into the Spider-Verse

Daniel Kaluuya, Hailee Steinfeld and Shameik Moore starred in one of the night’s biggest comedies as the trio presented the Golden Globe for Best Screenplay – Motion Picture.

“We’ve all been reminded this year of the critical importance of writers in the creative process,” Steinfeld said, referring to the five-month WGA strike that brought Hollywood to a standstill.

“To demonstrate the importance of writers and writing, we asked that this segment be written not by writers, but by studio executives,” Kaluuya added.

Seeking a new contract that would guarantee higher wages, better terms and protection from artificial intelligence, the WGA spent months negotiating with studio representatives, whose top executives were eventually able to reach an agreement with the writers.

Kaluuya, Steinfeld and Moore then poked fun at the script, which was written by “studio executives.” It happened like this.

Kaluuya: How are you, Shameik?

Moore: Nothing special, Daniel, how are you doing, Hayley?

Steinfeld: I’m outgoing, I like the Golden Globes, don’t you agree?

Moore: I agree.

Kaluuya: So do I.
