Laboratory Isdinin collaboration with Fero Foundationlaunched the seventh edition of the campaign Together. An initiative to raise awareness of the importance research and early detection breast cancer, and this year the focus is on making the role of fellows visible.

With the idea of ”the connection that unites us”, the campaign gives women a voice and communicates the reality of this disease, focusing on the connection that is created between patients and their companions. The union stars in the campaign image, illustrated by Steffi Mallebrein, co-author of the breast cancer support guide Isdeen launched last year, and her daughter Laura.
The mother and daughter are also part of Isdin’s series of emotional testimonies about how comrades experience treatment and battle with the disease. A process in which support, especially emotional support, is vital. As Steffi says, “Don’t call me brave, just be there for me.” Beating two types of breast cancer was not only a physical battle, but also an emotional challenge, where the human support around her became her greatest strength.
Every eighth woman was affected
According to the Feraud Foundation, breast cancer affects one in eight women (more than 36,000 are expected to be diagnosed in 2024), and cancer detection is expected to increase by 70% in 25 years. As Fero Foundation President Ruben Ventura explains: “25 years ago we treated only 65% of diagnosed breast cancer cases; today the figure is 85%, so every contribution to the Together campaign brings us closer to a cancer-free future.”

Money for research
Money raised during the campaign will go towards research Liquid biopsyproject led by Dr. Ana Vivancoshead of the genomics laboratory of the Val d’Hebron Institute of Oncology (VHIO), which is developing detection cancer through a drop of blood, avoiding invasive biopsies and surgeries.
For the first time this year, on October 16th, Casa Isdin held a roundtable with inspiring women who shared their personal stories. Steffi, together with Dr. Claudia Barreto, gynecologist and obstetrician, Dr. Barbara Fontanals, scientific coordinator of the Feraud Foundation, and other experts on the subject, who helped to understand the relevance of self-examination, the role of early detection and the harsh reality. breast cancer.
This was the central event of a campaign that will be active throughout October and which will expand beyond Spain this year. Isdin, Chile, Portugal, Peru, Argentina and Colombia will add their support to ensure that the message “Together against breast cancer“reaches everywhere.
