Israel launches new bombings against Beirut suburbs

Jerusalem (EFE).- Israeli warplanes again bombed this Saturday an area called Dahiyah, in the southern suburbs of Beirut, one of the strongholds of the Shiite group Hezbollah.

“According to intelligence, a series of strikes were carried out against Hezbollah terrorist infrastructure in Dahiyah,” the army said in a statement.

Shortly before these attacks and as he usually does, army spokesman Avichai Adrai, in Arabic, issued new evacuation requests for some of the civilian population living in the area.

“To all residents located in the southern suburban area, especially the buildings specified in the attached maps and their neighboring buildings in Haret Hrayik. For the safety of yourself and your family members, you must immediately evacuate these buildings and their surrounding buildings and stay at least 500 meters away from them,” he wrote on his X account.

Drones and projectiles against northern Israel

During the day on Friday, the Israeli military launched four strikes against Dahiyah in addition to its usual bombardment of the southern and eastern areas of the neighboring country.

Israel justifies these attacks by claiming that Lebanese militias have “systematically incorporated their terrorist infrastructure into the Lebanese civilian population.”

On the other hand, this Saturday at least four drones and twenty projectiles were fired from Lebanon against northern Israel.

The military reported that unmanned aerial vehicles were intercepted and most of the rockets were intercepted without any casualties.

Amidst this firing, diplomatic efforts are continuing to try to achieve a ceasefire. Yesterday, Nabih Berri, speaker of the Lebanese parliament and a Hezbollah ally, confirmed receipt of the US proposal during an interview with the London-based Arab daily Al Sharq Al Awsat.
