Iker Casillasinternational exporter real Madridexpressed his opinion on everything that has been happening lately in The real Spanish Football Federationwhom he wanted to run for president four years ago, and said that with the national team “something very beautiful was built, people felt it, they lived a wonderful period, and to throw it overboard, as they did, seems disgusting to me”.
Casillas was one of the main protagonists of the best period in the history of the Spanish national team, winning two European Championships (2008 and 2012) and the World Cup (2010).
In 2020, he unsuccessfully ran for president of the Royal Spanish Football Federation. “Four years ago, when I tried to run for office, I wanted to change some existing things, but the obstacles kept getting bigger and bigger and they didn’t give you a chance. I decided to resign. “Has time proven you right? I don’t know. Everything is there,” Casillas admitted during the presentation of the Netflix documentary La Liga: Beyond Goal, which will premiere on July 15.
“The Federation must change some things, including territorial ones. If you don’t want to change that, I won’t be the one fighting with my bows and arrows against many people. This will have to be done by people who can and know which path the Federation wants to take,” he noted.
“It’s a shame because I was part of the team until 2016 and I don’t like to see the situation that has developed. Something very good had been built, people had the feeling that they had lived through a wonderful stage, and to throw it overboard like it was thrown overboard, I find it disgusting. I’m not going to fight there. “I can’t do this alone,” he said.
For sixteen seasons, from 1999 to 2015, Iker Casillas was the goalkeeper of Real Madrid, a club that has dominated European football in recent years and whose ranks will feature Kylian Mbappe next season.
“Mbappe’s arrival is very good for La Liga. All players will want to go with him. It’s a pity that Barcelona is going through a more difficult situation. I would like him to improve and be able to compete with Real Madrid.
“LaLiga should be happy that a player like Mbappe is joining Real Madrid,” he concluded.Winter is coming and it's time for frost and humidity. This is where the good…
