Look of the day in Miami: Lawrence Stroll and Adrian Newey

After officially announcing his departure from Red Bull before the Miami Grand Prix, Adrian Newey was the most wanted man in the paddock. At a press conference on Thursday, both Lewis Hamilton and Fernando Alonso made it clear that it was their dream to work with Formula’s most famous and award-winning engineer. And while Newey himself has assured Sky Sports that he plans to take a break “and get away with my wife and dogs in a motorhome to take my mind off the sport for a while”, both Ferrari and Aston Martin are pursuing a “century” deal with the British.

This afternoon, ahead of the qualifying session at Hard Rock Stadium, DAZN cameras captured a more than symbolic image of Lawrence Stroll, owner of Aston Martin, animatedly chatting with Newey. A meeting that apparently sparked speculation about a future unification. In fact, although there is speculation in Italy that Newey will eventually sign with Ferrari to accompany Lewis Hamilton, it is not so clear that this is the case.

Some time ago, when there were rumors that Newey, 65, was feeling uncomfortable at Red Bull due to internal tensions over the Horner affair, Stroll’s interest in acquiring his services had already been leaked. In fact, they both met at a hotel in Bahrain.

1. Now Helmut Marko has given a new clue, saying that he sees the future of Red Bull’s brains not in Ferrari red, but rather in “green”, referring to the colors of Aston Martin. It would make sense for Stroll, after investing heavily in a new factory and wind tunnel at Silverstone, to convince Newey with a checkbook to join his ambitious project, especially with the arrival of Honda due in 2026.
