“Love, Your Mind”: A campaign to address people’s mental health concerns during the holidays.

Atlanta, Georgia.- For most people, it’s the holiday season, but there are also those who… Loneliness makes them depressed and we don’t know what to do.

Mental health has been one of the most important issues this country has faced in the wake of the pandemic, the economic crisis for many, the loss of family members for others, and now the Christmas and New Year holidays, which in some cases are not synonymous with joy. , but more with sadness because of the loneliness in which you live.

Lack of mental health care can have side effects, harming everything from friendships, relationships, work, and overall physical health. There is nothing wrong with asking for help and it is not a sign of weakness. In fact, valuing and taking care of your mental health is one of the most powerful things you can do for yourself and the people you love.

There are associated emotions, moods and problems in life that can worsen people’s mental health.

Blame

It’s normal to feel guilty from time to time, regardless of whether our behavior hurt someone or the outcome was our fault: we all make mistakes, and guilt teaches us to care for others in the process.

Wear

Although we often use the word wear and tear (or Burn out in English), as if it were just fatigue, and we think that this is a normal result of a lot of work, burnout is not just tiredness from work: it is something more.

Grief and loss

Grief is what we experience after a significant loss. This guide will help you understand the grieving process and learn how to help yourself and others cope with it.

Anger

Anger is an emotion you feel when you believe someone or something has hurt you, and it can also occur when you feel afraid or threatened.

Worry

When thoughts about what has gone wrong or what could go wrong (known as worry) take over your mind, it can be exhausting.

Loneliness

The need to connect with other people is part of our nature.

Sadness

It’s normal to feel sad from time to time: it’s part of being human, and it’s not that bad. But when sadness becomes overwhelming and takes over, it may be a sign that you need to take extra steps to take care of yourself.

Tips for dealing with these feelings

You need to understand the situation, and the campaign gives you several recommendations:

Talk to friends and family

Mental health issues are something no one should have to face alone. Even just one person’s support can make a big difference.

Get therapy

Therapy is the process of working with a licensed mental health professional who uses dialogue, self-exploration, and skill development to help you improve your overall well-being and specifically address your mental health concerns and goals.

SAMHSA’s National Helpline, 1-800-662-4357, is a free, confidential service available 24 hours a day, 365 days a year, in English and Spanish, for individuals and families struggling with mental health or substance use disorders. This service connects you with local treatment centers, support groups and community organizations.
