Lucas from another planet won the Depor title, saying goodbye to Primera RFEF (2-4)

Depor completed its – all too long – journey through the “C” in style, becoming the champion of the First RFEF. After winning the first match in Riazor last Wednesday, the blue and white team, led by Lucas from another planet, who was involved in four Deportivo goals with two goals and two assists, also defeated Castellon in Castalia and won the final of the champions. The golden brooch is also a double record, as Imanol Idiaques’s team increased the number of consecutive games without defeat in the league to 21 – the best streak in the history of the organization – and equaled the 21 games in a row, marking the Deportivista team that played a major role in the league of 1940– 41 with Hilario Marrero as coach and 2000–01 with Javier Irureta on the bench.

Goodbye to four years of competing in the mud with the intention of never returning. A farewell, and also the removal of last season’s thorn in Castalia, where Herculinos stunned her in the second leg of the promotion play-off semi-final (4-3) in a contest as strange as it was painful. Now, on the contrary, the last memory of Castellon will be positive – the title of champion of the First Federation.

Electric Castellon

The Orellutes came out with an open grave, wanting to overturn the result of the first match as quickly as possible. Erick Puerto thwarted Raul Sanchez’s goal when only a minute and a half had passed. But he couldn’t do anything about Douglas’ header until the 4th minute. Suero sent in a superb cross from the right flank and the Brazilian’s shot from the far post beat Paris Adot’s poor defense to make it 1-0.

The black and white team were a storm against a disunited and very inaccurate Deportivo. In fact, Douglas missed two clear chances in the 10th and 11th minutes to score the second goal.

Within a quarter of an hour, the blue and white managed to contain the initial rush of the team led by Dick Schrader, give the game some pause and even get closer to the goal of Gonzalo, who with a deflection prevented Barcia from equalizing, with a magnificent stretch, the header of the Depor youth player after a free kick in the penalty area Lucas.

Coruna reaction

The contest became a little more evenly matched, although the locals continued to show a little more spark than the blue and white, who came into this final chapter of the season “with a little fuel” as Idiakes had warned in the previous one.

Just as Depor were concentrating on touching the ball after the first black-and-white siege, an ordinary player appeared on the scene and scored against Coruña in the 28th minute. As in the first match, Lucas scored 1-1. And again with a great purpose. In this case, after receiving a good pass from Davo, after recovering from the Asturian. The one from Monelos rushed towards Gonzalo’s goal and, despite the presence of a defender on him, Vaseline saved the Argentine goalkeeper’s exit. Thus, without breaking a sweat.

Following the scenario shown last Wednesday in Riazor, Depor knew how to take advantage of Castellón’s “madness” by focusing on attack and not worrying about defense. In the 44th minute, Suero made it 2-1 in a fight in which Dani Barcia was stuck. But Eric Puerto avoided the second local goal. And in the very next action, the blue and white caught the Orelluts in a timely counterattack by Lucas, who assisted Mella, who recorded the score 1-2.

Lucas’ “Show”

Lucas Perez made it 1-1, gave way to Mella 1-2, and he alone made it 1-3 before the end of the fourth minute of the second half.

The Monelos player intercepted the ball on the opposite field, passed several opponents on his way to the black and white zone, created a one-two with Villares and beat the local goalkeeper with a shot to the long post.
If the duel was already lively, then in the end it completely broke down and turned into constant compromises. Thus, just four minutes after Lucas’ second goal, Suero finished off Castellón’s counter-attack to reduce the deficit and make the score 2-3.

In this complete frenzy, Mella had a clear chance in the 56th minute, but he fired high, and in the 58th minute, Douglas suddenly fell asleep and allowed Eric Puerto to prevent him from scoring 3-3 on goal.

The blue and white goalkeeper appeared again in the 63rd minute and saved a long-range shot from Orelluta’s top scorer De Miguel in two halves.

As the fight approached the final stretch, Castellon spent more time looking for a comeback, while Depor did more and more damage on the counterattacks. Mella turned on the bike and was able to seal the final in the 67th minute, but instead of helping Davo, who accompanied the play at the far post, he decided to take a chance and failed to surprise the Argentine goalkeeper.

In the 70th minute, Castalia stood up to say goodbye to former Deportivo player Haris Medunjanin, who, at 39, was hanging up his boots.

Davo’s proposal

In the 73rd minute, Idiakes’ block finally ended the match with Davo’s goal in a deadly counter-attack. Who led this counterattack and helped the Asturian? Of course, Lucas, who took part in four blue and white goals in Castalia.

With the finale already in place, Idiakes began a carousel of changes. One of the players to take the field in the final moments was Balenziaga, who played his final minutes for Deportivo, announcing this week that he will not continue with the team or in the professional categories after this season.
