Health authorities Zimbabwe reported 1841 malaria cases and 7 deaths reported in one week (EW17). 162 people were children under five years of age.
District Masvingo 2 deaths were recorded, while Hurungwe, Makonde, Mazowe, Guruwe and Mt Darwin districts each recorded 1 death.
The provinces with the most cases are Central Mashonaland (792) and province Mashonaland West (415). The cumulative number of malaria cases is 21,298 and 44 deaths.
In the first eight months of 2023, Zimbabwe recorded 144,508 positive cases of malaria, with regions such as Mashonaland Central, Mashonaland East, Manicaland, Matabeleland North and Masvingo accounting for 97% of these cases.
