McDonald’s asks that its waifu not be desecrated again – Kudasai

McDonald’s Japan’s new mascot, “Imadake Dabuchi Tabemi-chan”, has achieved unprecedented popularity since its introduction last month. Combining retro and adorable elements, this Double Cheese Burger figure has become a hit with fans and artists alike. shared a lot of fan art showing Tabemi-chan in various situations.from eating burgers to making playful gestures.

Tabemi-chan is a cheerful young woman wearing a red and white striped shirt, pants, and a distinctive red and yellow happi, with a hint of nostalgia for her Japanese style clothing.

Her look is completed with a McDonald’s visor, a ponytail and colorful shoes. The mascot was adopted by the community, who created illustrations showing the character in everyday scenes and even working at a McDonald’s store.

However, controversy erupted when some users began sharing suggestive illustrations of Tabemi-chan, some of which had explicit content. Although the Twitter platform allows adult content under certain restrictions and with appropriate warning labels, the character’s drawings were not classified in such a way that has drawn criticism from users who feel it is inappropriate to use such a popular figure in this type of illustration.

The reaction on Twitter was overwhelming, with many comments questioning the use of the official McDonald’s mascot in this type of content. Some of the comments include: “Using a woman as a sex object with food in the middle is unacceptable.” or “It is alarming to see explicit illustrations of the mascot of such a famous brand.

McDonald’s Japan responded to these concerns on November 5, clarifying that “All brand campaigns must respect copyright and adhere to responsible social media content guidelines.“. They also reminded users to read the usage policy carefully and encourage respectful behavior on the platform.

Controversy over inappropriate content uploaded without proper warning remains a sensitive topic on social media.and many are wondering how McDonald’s will handle similar situations in the future related to its online advertising campaigns.
