Mercadona Has a “Connection Time” and We Didn’t Know It: “Delete Tinder”

Going to the supermarket is one of those everyday tasks that we all do without thinking much, but what if we told you that there’s more to Mercadona than just a bargain? Apparently, there’s a secret time of day when this popular supermarket turns into an unexpected date spot, and there are already those who claim it’s a real phenomenon.

Vivi Lin, an actress known for her appearances in television shows such as Day here and now from Canal Sur, shared a video on TikTok that quickly went viral. In the clip, Vivi reveals a trick her friend Carla taught her: there are certain times when shopping at Mercadona can become a social… and romantic activity.

True practice or urban legend?

TimeAccording to Carla, between 7pm and 8pm, you should be in the Mercadona aisles if you’re looking for more than just a basket fill. Intrigued and a little skeptical, Vivi decided to check it out for herself.

Adventure Day. As the two friends stroll through the stalls, they can’t help but notice a few customers who don’t seem particularly interested in the offerings. “Now it seems like everyone is here from seven to eight for the same thing,” Vivi laughs. Some people seem to be walking around with almost nothing in their baskets, which reinforces the friends’ suspicions that the “ligoteo” at Mercadona is more than just an urban legend.

Looking for a “coincidence”. Between the jokes and laughter, Vivi even asks Carla if she has seen anyone interesting. His answer is as unexpected as it is funny: “Not yet, but I am looking at lactose-free milk.” To which Vivi humorously replies: “Well, you can see who has lactose-free milk, that’s it.”

In numbers and comments. Although they failed to find a partner that day, the two friends managed to turn a simple task into a fun activity. The original TikTok video has over 750,000 views at the time of writing, and has over 1.5 million views on Twitter.
