Microsoft has unveiled an innovative artificial intelligence (AI) tool for Teams designed to translate real-time meetings into nine languages.
A function called Interpreter based on artificial intelligencewas announced during Microsoft’s annual Ignite conference. This technology will allow users to speak and listen to meetings as if they were all communicating in the same language, replacing the original audio with a translated version without interruption.
Although there is no exact release date yet, the preview version is expected to be available in early 2025 as part of the Microsoft 365 Copilot suite. In addition, Microsoft plans to expand the capabilities of this tool to 31 languages in future updates.
According to a report from EdgeNot only will the AI translate content in real time, but it will also imitate the voice of a speaker in the chosen language, providing a smoother and more natural experience.

Before starting a meeting, Microsoft Teams will ask users to agree to enable this feature, confirming the company’s commitment to privacy and data control.

With this tool, Microsoft aims to promote more inclusive and collaborative meetings, especially in business and educational environments where linguistic diversity is becoming increasingly common.
According to the company, real-time interpretation will help keep meetings moving without interruption, eliminating the need for external translators. However, Microsoft warns that the tool is not foolproof and suggests complementing it with the Microsoft Teams transcription feature to ensure greater accuracy in case of errors.
