Microsoft continues to bet on artificial intelligence (AI). In this sense, the Redmond company announced a new Surface Pro and Surface Laptop. These are the first devices to be launched under the Copilot+ name, a name that was also unveiled this Monday and aims to usher in a “new era” in Windows.
Here we have two computers that, despite their external differences, have a lot in common. One aspect they agree on is the arrival of Qualcomm Snapdragon X chips. They also boast excellent battery life and the latest AI-powered Windows features. Let’s see its details.
Microsoft’s 2-in-1 computer catalog has been expanded with the new Surface Pro. The name of this new generation device, as we see, is not accompanied by a model number, which suggests that the company is changing its approach to this issue. a product line with a new approach to artificial intelligence.
Two months ago we learned about the Surface Pro 10, a business device with an Intel heart. Launched a few minutes ago, Surface Pro comes with two alternatives, namely Snapdragon X Plus or Snapdragon X Elite. Both offerings promise to be powerful enough to directly compete with the new MacBook Air with M3 chips.
The benefits of using an ARM processor are not only related to performance, but also to battery life. According to Microsoft, this computer will have sufficient autonomy enough to last “all day.” Up to 14 hours of local video playback and up to 10 hours of web browsing.
Surface Pro 11 comes with a new OLED display with a 1000:1 contrast ratio. It should be noted that this is an optional feature. This means that we can continue to choose the classic LCD screen. In both scenarios, the resolution will be 2880 x 1920, and the dynamic refresh rate will be 120 Hz.
At the RAM level, we have 16GB or 32GB LPDDR5x options. Storage (SSD Gen 4): 256 GB, 512 GB, 1 TB17. Externally the team save design we already knew this, but for example, the detachable keyboard has a battery that allows us to use it via Bluetooth when it is physically disconnected.
In the case of Surface Laptop, we have a truly new design. The laptop, which comes in 13.8-inch and 15-inch versions, has thinner bezels, rounded corners and a larger tactile keyboard panel. New features also include two USB-C (USB4), one USB-A, and a MicroSD slot on the largest model.
The 7th version of the laptop allows us to choose between Snapdragon X Elite and Snapdragon X Plus chips. In terms of RAM, we have LPDDR5x options. 16 GB and 32 GB
(having a 16 GB base is good news these days). And at the 4th generation SSD level, options range from 256GB, 512GB, or 1TB.Microsoft says the new Surface Laptop is “80 percent faster than our previous generation” and offers “exceptional battery life.” In the case of the 15-inch model, they promise up to 22 hours of local video playback and up to 15 hours of web browsing.
Although during the Redmond giant’s event we saw the names of Intel, AMD and Qualcomm, the first Copilot+ devices. they are ARM, that is, they belong to the Qualcomm group.
