Thanks to a collective process that lasted a month, Spain’s new Code of Ethics for Total Inclusion will receive the support of more than a thousand people. The questionnaire, adapted for Easy Reading, was distributed by email and on social networks of the Confederation, which unites 950 associations throughout the country. A diverse audience responded to the questions, including 218 people with intellectual and developmental disabilities and 288 their family members.
The Fully Inclusive Code of Ethics includes the values, principles and standards that guide all people involved in the inclusion movement that fights for the rights and supports more than 150,000 people with intellectual and developmental disabilities. “We are talking about values, principles and norms that aim to create an organizational culture and help different actors make fair and responsible decisions, always with the goal of improving the quality of life and the inclusion of people with intellectual disabilities,” he emphasizes. The process of developing the Fully Inclusive Code of Ethics was divided into four stages:
