Daniel Jadu, former mayor of Recoleta, voted and said that “today will be a big victory”.
The former mayor of the Municipality of Recoleta, communist Daniel Jadu, who is under house arrest as a precautionary measure during the investigation by the Prosecutor’s Office for corruption crimes in the case of Popular Pharmacies, went to vote in the ‘Republica’ this Sunday. In Recoleta, Basic School of Paraguay, the Third Guarantee Court of Santiago has accepted the appeal for reconsideration filed by his defendant, Juan Carlos Manríquez, for exercising his right to vote in municipal and regional elections.
Both his entry and exit from the polling station remained disorganized. The ex-Adil, accompanied by his companion, Brazilian lawyer Anjulie Tostes, could barely walk among a crowd of followers and journalists. He has not given any statement to the journalists, whom he has accused of not holding the press conference. “The media didn’t want this,” he argued before returning to his home in the La Reina commune. He also said that there will be a “big victory” in these elections today.
Jadu has been under house arrest since September, but was kept in preventive detention at Captain Ybor prison for three months.
