Huawei knows very well what it will do in 2024, and if not, talk about the Huawei Pura 70 Ultra and its victory in the great Xataka photographic comparison. Following the launch of this high-end premium beast, the company is announcing the Mate 70 family in China.
This consists of Huawei Mate 70, Huawei Mate 70 Pro and Huawei Mate 70 Pro+three models from the top range, the availability of which in Europe is not yet known. While the mystery is cleared up, it’s worth finding out what the specs and features of the Mate 70 lineup are.

Tips from the brand
The Huawei Mate 70 is the smallest in the lineup, but that doesn’t mean it’s not a model worth considering. The phone has a more sophisticated design than previous generations. Huawei is finally using flat bezels and it’s closer to rivals like the iPhone 16 Pro or Google Pixel 9. The camera module is still very noticeable, although it’s becoming a bit more discreet.
The front says goodbye to all types of curves and becomes much cleaner and more restrained. Phone with frequently used frames on screen 6.7″ OLED display with 2500 nits peak brightness. Huawei promises that it is very efficient in terms of energy consumption, which is key to ultimate autonomy.
On the hardware level, Huawei usually hides the processors it uses. The war with the United States is a major setback for equipment. Despite this, Chinese sources point to the new Kirin 9010, a high-performance processor that is significantly inferior to most recent offerings.

In terms of photography, interestingly, it has the longest telephoto lens of the three models. Although it has a lower resolution, it has a 5x optical zoom. The main camera is 50 megapixels with variable aperture, which promises excellent results.
This phone cannot connect to 5G networks but does support satellite networks. HarmonyOS brings it to life, and the version of Android used is not specified.
The Huawei Mate 70 Pro and Pro+ are similar in design to the Mate 70, although they use classic rounded edges instead of flat ones. The camera module is very similar to that of its younger brother.
The front has changed a bit as these two phones come with 3D ToF cameras for better facial recognition. The screen, however, is the same as the Mate 70.
The main differences are a larger battery with a capacity of 5500 and 5700 mAh respectively, as well as 100W fast charging systems. The Mate 70 Pro+ has more ambitious memory configurations – up to 16 GB + 1 TB.
On a photographic level, what stands out is that they have a shorter telephoto lens. We are talking about “only” 3.5x, although the sensor resolution is higher. Otherwise, we are talking about devices that are very similar to each other.
According to sources, both phones are powered by the new Kirin 9020 chip, which is slightly superior to the processor of the Huawei Mate 70. Each of these Mate models, including the 70, supports IP68 and IP69 ratings.
Huawei Mate 70 is already on sale in China. At the moment there is no news about his possible arrival in Europe. These are the prices and options in your home country.
