A wave of pro-Palestinian protests on US college campuses is spreading across the country, with hundreds of people arrested.

At Columbia University in New York, the center of the demonstrations, student protesters said they would not leave until the university met other demands, including cutting ties with Israeli academic institutions and withdrawing its funding from Israeli-linked institutions. Does not agree. Protestors in other campuses also have similar demands.

Campus camps across the country have brought together students from diverse backgrounds – Palestinians, Arabs, Jews and Muslims – to condemn the Israeli bombing of Gaza.

Here are the latest developments:

Emory University- Twenty-eight people, including 20 members of the Emory community, were arrested during the protest at the school, Vice President of Public Safety Cheryl Elliott said. The Georgia State Patrol said officers deployed pepper balls “to control the unruly crowd” during the protest. Emerson College- More than 100 people were arrested and four police officers were injured during a sweep of an encampment at a Boston liberal arts college, according to the Boston Police Department. President Jay Bernhardt said he recognized and respected the “civic activism and passion generated by the protests” after dozens of arrests.

Indiana University- Following protests at the camp, 33 people were arrested on the campus.

George Washington University- University President Ellen M. Granberg said that Washington Metropolitan Police were asked to help relocate an “unsanctioned protest camp” on campus. “The decision was taken after camp participants ignored multiple instructions from Washington Police to move to an alternate location on campus,” he said.

University of California, Los Angeles- A “camp demonstration” formed at UCLA on Thursday.

Northeastern University- An encampment was formed at Northeastern University in Boston, where dozens of protesters were seen forming a human chain around several tents.
