At least nine people were killed and 28 injured in Israeli bombings in the villages of Barja (south of Beirut) and Maysra (north of the Lebanese capital), according to a new report provided by the Lebanese Public Health Ministry.
The first air strike hit Barja, north of the city of Sidon (38 kilometers south of Beirut), killing four and wounding fourteen.
As for the village of Maysara in the Ksrwan district (about 38 kilometers north of Beirut), the Lebanese ministry has so far reported five deaths and fourteen injuries as a result of Israeli bombardment.
The Lebanese ministry reiterated its call to the media and social networks to promote blood donation in hospitals.
“There is a clear mechanism coordinated with the Red Cross to secure blood units as quickly and at the right places as possible,” the note reads.
The latest attacks against the Mediterranean country’s capital come more than two weeks after Israel launched a sustained bombing campaign against southern Lebanon and Beirut’s southern suburbs, known as Dahaye.
The conflict worsened with an Israeli ground offensive into southern Lebanon on 1 October, as well as intensified Israeli bombardment of the neighboring country, causing more than 2,000 deaths and 11,000 injuries in Lebanon.
