NVIDIA is testing up to 600W heatsinks for its RTX 50

NVIDIA has been using RTX graphics since 2018 when it decided to change the GTX nomenclature that had remained on its GPUs for so many years. This is because with the advent of RTX, the purpose of graphics cards changed and not only did they get full power for gaming, but they also used Tensor Cores to be able to use AI scaling called DLSS and ray tracing. With these two changes, we now have 4 generations of RTX GPUs, with more coming in a few months. As with the RTX 40, we saw an increase in size and weight. RTX 50 they loom heatsinks up to 600 W that NVIDIA tests.

When it comes to playing video games with the highest quality graphics and frame rates, purchasing a high-quality graphics card becomes essential. Not only does this mean that a huge amount of money will be spent on it, but we will also need a tower and a fountain to support it. We say this because graphs like
PTX 4090 turned out to be huge, enough to cause some people problems, and, of course, was accompanied
Thermal power 450 W.

NVIDIA uses four heatsinks ranging from 250W to 600W for the RTX 50.

If the RTX 4090 was already big, it was expected that NVIDIA would release
RTX 4090 Ti is even bigger and heavier, although it was never sold. If with the RTX 40 we saw a significant increase in size compared to
RTX 30 and RTX 20, the new generation was not going to be smaller. NVIDIA looks like it will continue to increase power (and consumption) considering that they have started testing with heatsinks from from 250 W to 600 W.

This means that we are currently confirming the availability of 4 prototypes of official radiators

(Founders) for the new RTX 50, which, if they continue with the current RTX 40 plan, will cover from RTX 5060 Ti (given that there were no RTX 4060 founders) before PTX 5090. Although the consumption seems much higher than the current one, it must be taken into account that they relate to power dissipation.

The power consumption of the RTX 50 should be significantly lower than the power dissipation of these prototypes.

This isn’t the first time we’ve seen NVIDIA test heatsinks capable of supporting 600W of power.. In fact, with the RTX 30 it was already expected that they would have a TDP of 600W or higher, but in the end we saw that the actual consumption of the most powerful RTX 3090 Ti GPU was around 450W. After all, we’re talking about testing heatsinks to see if they can dissipate more heat than the graphics card in question, so we can’t use them as a benchmark to know the actual consumption they’ll consume.

In addition, it must be taken into account that Each generation of video cards becomes more efficient than the previous one. This will also depend on the performance improvement of the RTX 50, as sometimes the consumption increases even though they are more efficient due to the fact that they perform much better. Now we will have to wait until the third or fourth quarter of 20234.
