On what day does each member state vote in the European elections?

Citizens of Ireland and the Czech Republic have been called to vote for their representatives in the European Parliament this Friday, June 8, as the Netherlands was the first country to officially launch the 2024 European elections this Thursday on Sunday, June 9, once the 27 Member States have concluded their respective election days.

  • Context. As we told you on Newtral.es, the European Parliament is one of the three main government bodies of the European Union, along with the European Commission and the European Council. It is the only institution of the community whose members are directly elected by the population every five years.

  • The rest of the country, including Spain, will be able to vote for their MEPs during the day on Sunday.

Early voting. Although the official dates for the 2024 European elections are set between June 6 and 9, some countries such as Estonia, Latvia or Lithuania have allowed their citizens to vote early starting this Monday and Tuesday.
