PlayStation is modifying its Stars program so that points expire earlier

Be very careful if you were in PlayStation Stars with your PlayStation console, as users who are still interested in maintaining their subscription must accept the new terms. Sony said this in an email sent to users, which would not be strange if it ended up in the spam folder. So take a look or connect to your console.

Changes have already been made

Since yesterday, October 24, a PlayStation Stars update has been active, forcing users to accept the terms and conditions. In the email, Sony mentions that they will obviously be sorry if users do not accept the new terms and continue using the service. Either way, the good news is that there are several ways to accept them and continue your subscription. One of them from the PlayStation appwhich brings you incredible comfort. Alternatively, you can also confirm the terms and conditions by logging into your PlayStation profile on the service’s own website.

Once this is cleared, we can talk about the points. This change to the PlayStation Stars terms and conditions is now effective. Based on Sony’s announcement, we find that now The points we receive expire after 12 months. that they have been added to our balance. Previously, PlayStation Stars points expired after 24 months, so users had to cut the time in half. Points expire at the end of the month corresponding to their expiration date. Of course, the good news is that this also applies to the new points you receive from now on. If you earned PlayStation Stars before October 24, they will still expire after 24 months.

What other changes are coming?

In addition to points expiring, Sony also made another modification. In this case, we are talking about changing what is meant by “qualifying purchases” of what is associated in the PlayStation environment with PlayStation Stars points. The reason for this modification is simple: Sony wants payments for subscriptions made on the PlayStation Store to stop awarding points to users.

At least that’s a change will take effect on March 1, 2025so we still have time to think about it. Therefore, if you continue to subscribe to PlayStation Plus or the subscription service available through the PlayStation Store, you will continue to add points to your PlayStation Stars account at this time. Keep in mind that this will end eventually, but you can continue to take advantage until that day and thus rack up more points.

If for any reason, such as not accepting the new terms, your account is deleted, the good news is that you can register again and restore everything you had. That’s why, you don’t have to worry about losing points which you have accumulated and which have not yet expired. With PlayStation Stars, PlayStation users can gain access to all types of prizes, from digital items and collectibles to completed games in their digital versions. This program hasn’t had a particularly strong impact, but the PlayStation community believes it will improve in the future. Unfortunately, these changes will not be widely accepted, quite the contrary.
