The Spanish Association Against Cancer of Melilla will carry out dermatological checks to prevent skin cancer in a tent set up on the beach of Los Carabos.
A tent approached by government delegate Sabrina Moh, as well as Health Minister Randa Mohamed.
The president of the Association against Cancer in Melilla, Manolo Aznar, said that the campaign will run until tomorrow, Sunday and July 20 and 21 next year: “This is a very important skin problem, as well as various types of examinations. which we are going to implement in the near future both for the cervix and for the lungs, rectum and breast. Important efforts are being made and the Association continues to work and fight to ensure that we advance initiatives of these characteristics each year.
This Saturday the tent will be open all day, and tomorrow only until noon.
For her part, consultant Randa Mohamed recognized the importance of this action: “It is very important for the people of Melilla that you can come at any time without an appointment, without having to make a phone call and prevent quite a lot of aggressive cancer. From the Ministry of Health we will continue to support the necessary population surveys and will continue to work to ensure that there are more, more often and of better quality.
Dermatologist Antonio Martinez also wanted to offer some recommendations for sun exposure: “Basically, we make two recommendations: first, the need to provide adequate photoprotection, which includes not only sunscreen, but also the use of physical means such as a cap, T-shirt and avoid exposure in the middle of the day, and secondly, undergo early detection of precancerous and malignant lesions. We want to make people aware of the need for adequate photoprotection and dermatological examination at least once a year. especially those who work under sun exposure or receive a lot of solar radiation throughout the year.
The information campaign of the Spanish Cancer Association was launched in 2018 and the organization is showing its satisfaction as citizens have become more cautious.
However, just because we don’t have blemishes at the moment doesn’t mean we’ll have some kind of dermatological problem in the future.
Therefore, we must monitor the time at which we are exposed to the sun: the healthiest times are before 11 a.m. and after six p.m.
We cannot forget that, in addition, the practice of moving back and forth is dangerous and that using protection will not prevent us from getting a tan.
At the beach stand, residents of Melilla will be able to obtain the necessary information about sunscreens and undergo an examination by a specialist.
