Price of the dollar today January 12, the peso wins its sixth session

Today, Thursday, January 12, 2023, the dollar trades at 18.8361 pesos per unit with a downward trend in real time. According to the report of Banxico, the peso gains 10.22 cents in the exchange rate to settle at 18.8476 pesos per unit against the spot interbank dollar. On this day, the Mexican peso appreciated.

According to the economist Gabriela Siller, in the US economic outlook there is a clear downward trend in the inflation rate, while in the local economy this is not the case. Due to lower inflation expectations going forward for the US economy, the Fed is expected to be less aggressive in its rate increases during 2023.

This is because a less aggressive economic policy weakens the greenback and allows the Mexican currency to gain ground on the day. Inflation in the neighboring country closed in December with 6.5% at the annual rate, which has been falling for six months in a row.
