Real Madrid buys left-back Fran García, who will remain on loan at Rayo Vallecano

The Real Madrid exercised the purchase option to sign Fran García for 5 million euros, but the left-back will remain on loan at Rayo Vallecano until the end of the season, according to various sources confirmed to ESPN.
Fran, 23, grew up in the Madrid youth academy and has become one of the best left-backs in LaLiga since he signed for Rayo in 2021.
Madrid was very confident in the youth squad’s future and in that agreement included a preferential option to recover the player and in turn kept 50% of his rights in the event of a sale.
Last summer there was already speculation about his possible return after Marcelo’s departure. However, the club decided that Fran should follow his progression at Rayo and opted to trust Ferland Mendy and the versatile David Alaba to cover his side.
The situation changed in recent days after several teams from the Premier League and the Bundesliga showed interest in signing Fran during this winter market. Madrid, thus, decided to react and will exercise the purchase option to recover it next summer.
In this way, Fran García fulfills his wish to return to Real Madrid and fulfills the promise he made to his current coach, Andoni Iraola, to end the current season at Rayo Vallecano.
