Renault Rafale will arrive in Spain for 41,807 euros.

It is the brand’s flagship, produced in Spain and so far only sold as a 200 hp hybrid.

First it was the Austral, then the Espace with up to seven seats, and now it’s the Rafale’s turn. Three medium-sized SUVs that have a common base and mechanics (not all) and are also produced in Spain. In particular, at the brand’s plant in Valladolid.

Renault Austral

The Rafale is the sportiest variant of the three, both in terms of its design with a coupe rear end and the mechanicals that will have top version with 300 hp thanks to a second electric motor on the rear axle, which will also provide all-wheel drive. It will also be a plug-in hybrid that will have special chassis, brake, suspension and steering tweaks.

Renault Espace, five or seven seats.

But this car will not be presented until the end of the year. That is, approximately six months after the first copies of the Rafale e-Tech reach their owners. 200 hp That is, a pure self-charging hybrid with the same circuit, which is already known as Austral and Espace. Renault hopes to claim an average consumption of just 4.7 liters per 100 km, which corresponds to a range of up to 1,100 km on a single tank. It will have the DGT ecolabel, CO2 emissions of just 105 grams of CO2 per kilometer and will be exempt from registration tax.

From 41,807 euros

The length of the car is 4.71 meters, which is 20 centimeters longer than the first of these two models. Of this increase of seven cm, the wheelbase benefits, which allows for increased legroom and, despite the failure of the roof at the rear, it is not critical in terms of headroom. The trunk volume reaches 528 liters, a figure sufficient for the whole family’s luggage and the same as in the Austral if we move the rear bench forward as far as possible. There is no such option on Rafale.

The initial range can be short: The client only has to choose the finish: Techno or Esprit Alpine. None of them are cheap, and we’re not saying they’re off the market: the first option costs 41,807 euros, for 46,172 euros for the second, discounting the current launch campaign. This is from 1300 to almost 1500 euros. Compared to Austral, it is approximately 3,300 euros more expensive. Compared to Espace about 400 euros cheaper. You can also access the machine via multi-option, for 397 euros per month for a period of three years. But you will have to pay 8,400 euros, and the final payment, if we want to keep the car, will be… almost 29,000 euros.

Equipment by version

The standard equipment of the Rafale Techno already includes an excellent multimedia and information system. integrated openR connection with Google and more than 50 available applications; Full LED headlights and taillights, adaptive headlights; dual zone air conditioner, a rearview camera, 20-inch wheels and a large number of driving aids such as adaptive cruise control, lane departure prevention, parking assist with a rearview camera, etc.

Esprit Alpine adds four-wheel steering, special exterior and interior trim, power trunk, smart center glove box, power trunk lid and more driving assistants,

like a blind spot detector.

Among the options common to the two Rafales are Karman & Kardon sound system (950 euros), Solarbay solar roof which can be lightened or darkened with a simple click of a button or a Google Assistant request. It costs 1500 euros. There are also a few special paintings that can cost up to 2,100 euros.
