Sinner’s rise: from promise to Grand Slam champion in one season

Jannik Sinner wins the Australian Open and US Open in 2024. They catapulted him to a privileged place in tennis history. With these two titles, he became the third man in the Open era to win his first two Grand Slams in the same season, an achievement that had not been repeated since Guillermo Vilas achieved it in 1977.

By lifting his second Grand Slam at the US Open, Sinner joined a select group of tennis players who have won the Australian Open and US Open on hard courts in the same season, alongside legends such as Novak Djokovic, Roger Federer and Mats Wilander . . This impressive campaign has seen him remain world number one for 17 weeks, and his reign appears far from over.
