More and more users in Spain are deciding to leave their TVs and take mini projector idea. These devices, also known as portable projectors, are an ideal alternative for those who want large screens at a relatively low price. The other day my TV was replaced with one of the newest XGIMI projectors: XGIMI MoGo 3 Pro.
At the beginning of September, XGIMI presented in Spain its new projectors such as the MoGo 3 Pro or the AURA 2 and many others. Also notable among them was the ElFin Flip, a portable projector that will turn your living room into a 150-inch movie theater. In this case, I used MoGo 3 Pro as my personal cinema, the only difference is that this also works as a Bluetooth speaker thanks to its impressive form factor.
MoGo 3 Pro is a rotating projector that, thanks to its ability to fold onto a stand, It can work as a projector and speaker for listening to music. Of course, without skimping on features, because this is a small device weighing only 1.1 kilograms can output 120 inch screen in Full HD resolution. All this for the relatively reasonable price of 499 euros in Spain.
Rotating projector
XGIMI is a company known for offering alternative designs that are not true in most situations. This MoGo 3 Pro is no different; At first glance, it doesn’t look like a projector. Looks like it’s a portable speaker. Friends have repeatedly asked me why I took a speaker with me, although I promised to bring a projector.
The key is its lateral support. The projector cylinder is attached to an opening bracket that lifts the projector slightly. and allows rotation of 130 degrees. Once fully rotated, the projector lens illuminates the light and emits its image. It should be noted that this design serves a different purpose; If the projector is open but does not rotate, Bluetooth speaker mode is on, Display a customizable LED indicator to distinguish it.
In terms of pure design, this is a system which we think is incredibly brilliant. And the big secret of the form factor is that it combines all the necessary elements of the projector itself in a body weighing just over a kilogram. There is a speaker at the bottom, a ventilation grille at the top, a thread under the speaker for attaching to a tripod… in addition, by rotating the projector, we adjust the angle of its image.
It should be added that MoGo 3 Pro This is a very well designed projector, what does it feel like bonus in hand and that everything is done as it should be. The only thing that needs improvement is that in some cases I found it difficult to perfectly align the projector with the base of the speaker when we go to fold it. This part is not fully palpable, so you will have to do a little extra movement to get it perfect. Nothing dramatic, of course.
Another point that could be considered negative is the lack of a battery, although as we will see this is not a real problem. XGIMI has decided to remove the battery from the case, so the projector will need to be kept plugged in to keep it on. Luckily, MoGo 3 Pro only requires from a 65 W power supply with USB-C for operation,
which also comes in a box.So, to turn on the projector you just need to connect the charging connector otherwise, use a medium power external battery. This gives the MoGo 3 Pro brutal versatility as it allows the user to take it anywhere without much hassle. Here, its lightness and the fact that it fits anywhere plays in its favor.
Small but strong
The most common opinion about these projectors is that, being compact, they do not provide good image quality. Many people believe that larger size means higher quality. Nothing of the kind; We This is one of the best compact projectors currently available, because his work is brutal.
Firstly, hardware. MoGo 3 Pro can output images at 1080P resolution and 450 ISO lumens brightness. 90% coverage of DCI-P3 color spacewith built-in DLP technology. Of course, there is no shortage of automatic correction and autofocus technology thanks to XGIMI’s ISA 2.0 system, which also features intelligent obstacle avoidance and intelligent screen alignment.
But what I liked most about the projector is definitely is that Google TV is installed as the operating system, which also includes a remote control. For me this is a critical point, since many of these projectors do not have an operating system at all and it is necessary to use key additional. Nothing of the kind; everything is included in the projector.
To be honest, MoGo 3 Pro surprised me a lot, in a good way. He keeps his word, capable of emitting 120 inches. and always maintain 1080p quality. The leveling, obstacle avoidance and automatic adjustment systems work just fine. I even placed the image on a wall with several pictures and it fit into the empty space without any problems.
Its image quality is excellent. Detail is good, colors are well balanced, and brightness is more than adequate for low-light conditions. In intermediate lighting, the quality obviously drops, but it is logical to see images in very low light. In such cases There will be no problems with viewing. MoGo 3 Pro offers very good features for almost any user.
Let’s remember this we are talking about a mini projectornot a big device. And this is where the main victim is the sound, a characteristic that the XGIMI “fragment” has taken over. Overall not bad, but there is room for improvement. Which is logical: the speaker is quite compact and, despite very good hearing resistance, has enough space.
The base has two 5-watt Harman Kardon speakers with Dolby Atmos and surround sound. In terms of power and atmosphere, these speakers perform very well. They easily fill a room and are quite loud. The problem is quality. This is slightly less than we expected although that’s not bad at all. Without further ado, it does the job of being eye-catching considering the image really stands out due to how good it is.
If the user wants the speaker to listen to what is being broadcast and nothing else, then the XGIMI MoGo 3 Pro has everything needed for a sufficient experience. The same goes for Bluetooth speaker mode; Those who need audio power will be satisfied. Those who want quality will expect something a little better.
Of course, using the speaker itself looks much better thanks to additional accessories which XGIMI offers with MoGo 3 Pro and which we were able to test. It can be purchased with what’s called a PowerBase, a small tripod divided into two parts that screws onto the bottom of the projector. and it has its own rechargeable battery.
Using a USB-C cable, it connects to the MoGo 3 Pro and provides power for operation without the need for a plug.Starting with this article, if you purchase this package, the XGIMI Creative Optical Filter will be included free of charge, which greatly enhances the image. One of the projector’s functions allows you to project images of your environment onto the wall; creative filter This expands them enormously. We were able to try this and it’s amazing, but there’s no real benefit to it.
We really liked the tripod. It is also very well built, with a two-piece design that allows you to mount the tripod in two positions. It’s reliable and it lasts a long time with battery. A useful addition that we highly recommend adding to your cart when purchasing a projector. However, the price increases; with this package increases from 499 euros to 579.
Should I buy this?
The world of mini projectors is complex. More than one person has been disappointed after trying these devices, which hardly pretend to be portable TVs. In this case, MoGo 3 Pro made me forget about the TV forever. I was able to use it in all areas of my home and while relaxing with friends. I felt like I had a nice Google TV in my backpack.
If you’re looking for a projector that you can take with you on holiday or into the garden to watch quality movies without breaking the bank, then the MoGo 3 Pro is a great option. And it does not suffer from the usual problems for devices of this type. Against; stands out among them and offers an experience that matches what we pay.
