Spaniard Carlos Alcaraz will meet Russian Andrey Rublev this Wednesday on the second day of his group at the Nitto ATP Finals 2024 in Turin, a crucial match for both tennis players if they want to maintain their chances of reaching the semi-finals after losing their first match of the tournament.
The Murcian, who was hampered by abdominal pain, unexpectedly lost in his debut match to the Norwegian Casper Ruud (6-1 and 7-5), “happy” to beat the Spaniard for the first time in his career.
“A few days before arriving in Turin, I fell ill at home. Then on the days when I trained here, I felt good. Not very good, but good. I could play. I felt like I could rally in training. Obviously, in games everything is completely different. But today I didn’t feel well,” the El Palmar tennis player explained at a press conference after the defeat.

Alcaraz also attributed the defeat to his lack of experience playing indoors: “I need to improve in the part of the year when we play indoors. I’ll be a very good indoor player, I’m sure of that. But I think it’s a matter of time, experience, games…”
The Spanish tennis player will arrive last in the group, adding only 6 games to the final score. He will face Rublev, who will also lose on the second day, losing to German Alexander Zverev. Both players need a win to keep their chances of reaching the semi-finals alive.
The match between Carlos Alcaraz and Andrey Rublev at the Nitto ATP Finals 2024 will take place this Wednesday, November 13, at the Inalpi Arena in Turin no earlier than 14:00 Moscow time. This meeting can be seen on television in Movistar+ and this can also be followed live on the website Vanguard
