Samsung’s latest invention is the Bluetooth-enabled credit card. This is an idea that makes a lot of sense.

It can be found using the Samsung search network… although this has a slight drawback.

Losing credit cards shouldn’t be a common occurrence, but it’s more than likely that it has happened to you or that you know someone who has suffered from it personally. The solution to prevent this is much simpler than we might have imagined: add a Bluetooth chip to the card itself.

Samsung Electronics has introduced what they call an IoT credit card in Korea. As the name suggests, this card is linked to Samsung’s own Smart Things Find network, so it acts like any other monitored smart device.

Samsung Electronics, KB Kookmin Card and American Express signed an agreement last September to produce cards compatible with Bluetooth Low Energy. The purpose of introducing this small chip is clear: to be able to track the card through Samsung’s own network.

In this way, we can check the location of the map in real time and also check where and when it was disconnected from our phone. Fun fact: we can also search for our phone from the map by pressing the bottom button present on it. Of course, both devices need to be within Bluetooth range.

The main drawback? This card has a battery that lasts for “roughly” 30 days on a single charge. It charges wirelessly, but that forces us to check monthly to see if it has battery.

The first cards will be released in Korea, and there are plans to gradually expand this technology. However, there is no news about when they will leave their home country.
