SASPAS-Hipatia analyzes the public health experience in Andalusia during its autumn conference.

Scientific, interdisciplinary and collaborative knowledge under the motto “Creating Public Health in Andalusia” is the focus of the annual SASPAS-Hipatia conference held at EASP.

The Andalusian Society of Public Health and Health Management (SASPAS-Hipatia) celebrated its autumn conference through the virtual platform of the Andalusian School of Public Health (EASP) under the theme “Doing Public Health in Andalusia”. Within this framework, actions carried out in public health in Andalusia were analyzed in different areas such as, among others, animal health, epidemiological surveillance, health promotion or social determinants of health inequalities.
According to its president and EASP professor Ainoa Ruiz Azarola, “in a context where public health problems such as epidemics, climate change, aging populations or rising inequalities are becoming increasingly important”, “it is important to know who, what and how is being done in public health in Andalusia.” Thanks to a lot of work and knowledge, we will be able to collaborate in developing innovative responses to Andalusian health problems,” he explained at the beginning of the day.
The conference was also an opportunity to analyze the role that the future State Agency for Public Health, for which the Andalusian government designates Granada as its headquarters, could play.
Carmen Sánchez-Cantalejo Garrido (EASP), Pablo García-Cubillana de la Cruz (Department of Health and Consumer Affairs), Silvia Vallejo Godoy (University Hospital of Poniente) took part in a round table on the topic “How we deal with public health in different areas of Andalusia ” ‘ from Almeria) and Arturo Linares Miguel (Granada Metropolitan Region), sharing their experiences and projects that contribute to improving public health.
